YOU CAN DO IT! How to get out of the wheelchair after 10 years – exercises in the gym Part 2

Hello everyone! My name is Elly Vega, and you just testify and participate in my getting up from the wheelchairs, where I did 10 years. In the first video, in a Part 1, I spoke about the importance of desire and will to get out of the wheelchairs. And when you have strong desire and will, nothing can stop you. One thing for me is very important. The conditions, we were in a wheelchair, from a medical point of view, is classified as a some form, some diagnosis. However, the time in a wheelchair for me is just one of many life phases, passing away like everything else in life, though full of challenges and learning. That was not easy period in my life. Everything is passing… Each of us has its own life phases. My active work on the body began with the first day in the gym, September 26, 2017. It was not easy… It was not easy to go among people, healthy, functional and lively people. And you are aware that you can’t anything work properly. I practiced twice a week, for two hours three months. That’s 48 hours of exercises. It does not seem very much. But, these hours were filled with intense effort and little tiny steps. A lot of times I did not feel muscle with whom I worked… I did not feel his moves… I did not feel his existence at all. For most people this would be very devastating and they would give up from the exercising. But I didn’t want to give up. I must be able to feel you… you are mine, you are my body. I can come to you… I want communicate with you… We did not have communications ten years. But I need you and I want to be connected with you. When I was exercise, I tried to have full attention on the part of my body that I want to strengthen. I was mentally connected with my body. After a few training sessions, I felt that muscle. After three months, results were… visible and measurable, and for me great and excellent. I could, with adherence, get down from wheelchair to the floor, stand up, I could stand, being firmer and safer… It’s very important been careful and not to get tired and burdensome too much. So, after three months, being firmer and safer, and I was less afraid of falls. Before the wheelchair, I often fell and became injured… And getting up from the wheelchairs, with complete atrophy of the muscles, it’s not easy. The first thought that comes to mind is ‘My body will not be able to hold me, I will fall, I don’t have muscles, I will be hurt, how can I suffer that pain, I’ll have an injury and I will have to be hospitalized, I will get a decubitus, wound…’ Such thoughts can be very tough, block you and give you an abnormal fear, you’ll see in the second part of the video. That fear literally blocks you, and you can not establish communication with your body, you can not make a move, because you don’t know what will happen. As it looks, you’ll see in second part of the video. You will also see why we need two, two and half hours in the gym, not one hour as people in good condition. We need a lot more time to get to the position where we need to do some exercise. We do not do exercises as healthy people. Your body has learned to be in a certain position ten years. Your body protests, they don’t want listen, it works the opposite of what you want. Your body becomes your opposition! 🙂 All these are challenges that can be overcome. While performing the exercise, I visualize a part of the body what I want to strengthen by exercising. During training I do not eat anything or drink water because all energy what we needed for exercise goes to the digestion process. So, if during exercise we eat or drink water, the energy will go to the process of digestion and we will not be able to exercise. You will be able exercise only with your empty belly. This also I have seen in healthy people. They drink a lot of water and they can’t exercising then, and they feel tired. One hour before training, I take half cup of cocoa on the water with one dose of protein counter. So, my training starts at 11:00 a.m. and lasts until 1:00 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. After training I eat about 3 bananas, I drink about one glass of water, and sleep about one, one and half hour, after which I’m completely fresh and I feel stronger. Likewise, I want to show several exercises that I consider to be extremely important for the body to be able to stand and walk. All three exercises are used to fix the middle part of the body, which is essential for stability and walking. With sets of different exercises, I’ve been working on three exercises at the beginning of exercise at all. Exercise for the abdominal muscles, exercise for the lower back muscles, and withdrawal of the rope in the standing position. Also, in the third exercise, the cargo and rope keep you in the upright position. That’s all of me for now, see you in the next video, Write, comment, subscribe … thank you 🙂
