Business is Thriving in Toronto

We have a quality of life that is second
to none. We have an economic opportunity that’s among the best in the world. We are a North American powerhouse economically. It’s the whole package, in one place and I think that’s unusual in all the world. Toronto is one of the
fastest growing cities in North America. We’re attracting people from all over the
world, who want to come and live, and work and play in this city. The wide range of sectors that we are able to house and facilitate in this city. From… sports, arts and culture, film, finance, real estate… even manufacturing, I think it’s
phenomenal. So of all the big cities in the world, we actually have the lowest, net, effective tax rate for business. We continually have been rated as stable,
sound, safest in the world. That sustainability of a financial system is
a prized asset. One of the amazing things about Toronto is the quality of the education you can get here. We have four universities and four colleges that are always attracting people to the city… so our labor force is always growing. We’ve got some of the highest post-secondary and professional designations statistics, when you look at the education
level. Come to our studio and take a look around at the people. They’re from almost every part of the world. 52% of the population of Toronto, comes
from outside of Canada. So we have business, cultural, linguistic ties to anywhere else in the world. Whether you’re small, medium-sized, and… …even big companies today; a lot of
companies are moving here because of that diversity, and the excitement that Toronto is creating right now around innovation and new ideas. Toronto encourages innovation I think, by creating opportunities for different partners in the ecosystem to
come together, and it is that culture of collaboration which is really at the
heart of what’s next in innovation. There is support here that is so ideal and
it’s so necessary for a young, first time, small business owner… I’ve not seen in other cities that I have lived in. From the very early stage we have
incubators, accelerators and C-stage investors… and… through the growth stage, we have investors who can, invest a lot of money to really help the companies to take off. Toronto is an environment where entrepreneurs can thrive. It allows people to be successful, be
free, be able to create community, attract great people… attract small, diverse communities and capture a diverse range of thoughts. The cultural sector generates
some nine billion dollars for the city of Toronto and, employs a tremendous
amount of talent. We have her National Ballet and we have our opera… we also have a lot of thriving community arts… which also I think makes our city very
unique. Toronto is a great place to raise a family and as a result, we have people coming… we have jobs coming, and those two things together make for an incredibly vibrant economy. What makes Toronto different, is what I’ll call that “masala,” that mix, of people from all walks of life, from all over the
world, who have chosen to make Toronto their home. And from that you have a fusion of
everything, and it’s that excitement that makes it so different and special,
compared to other cities. Whoever you are, come here, and join this. You’ll be welcomed, you’ll have opportunity here that’s unparalleled, and you’ll have a quality of life that you won’t find anywhere else.
