As the Executive Director of Significant Living, I want you to know that I am living the life we talk about at SL. I am 58 years old. I am passionate about helping my generation finish well, so work is like play for me. I’m a little overweight but exercising every week and drinking Kylea as a nutritional supplement.
I play the trumpet in community bands and at church, I love going to movies, and I have had the opportunity to do some wild things that few people ever experience – like crossing the Sahara Desert in a VW Camper Bus. I am currently writing the travel book of
that two year adventure driving most of the way around the world.
The VW Camper trip took place in 1973 to 1975. That's right! Two years driving most of the way around the world. The route progressed from Los Angeles down the west coast of Mexico, through Mexico City to the Yuctan Peninsula, then down through Central America to Panama. Then the west coast of South America to Lima, Peru, up through the Andes Mountains to central Argentina, west to Santiago, Chile, then to the tip of South America, a place called Tierra del Fuego - the farthest point south that you can drive anywhere in the world. Up the east coast of South America to Rio de Janiero, by freighter with the VW to Europe, all over Europe and then into Africa. Across the Sahara Desert, north to south, from Algiers to Lagos, Nigeria, through the Congo (called Zaire at that time) to Nairobi and finally south to Cape Town.
